AGRI-WATERMAX


Abstract

AGRI-WATERMAX is a close-to-market project which aim at introducing in Europe new solutions able to bring clear environmental and economic benefits in the field of agriculture, by applying the innovative technology of Nanobubbles (NB).


Description of Projectidea

The main outcomes expected by the project will be two “ready to sell” solutions (based on NBs) addressed to the European farmers interested in evolving to a more biological, sustainable and profitable way of cultivate.
Those solutions will be built around some “commercial” Nanobubbles Generators available abroad, some of them recently imported in Italy. Different configurations will be tested with the aim of obtaining the best engineering solution for each application, for instance using submerged or external devices, connecting ozone or oxygen generators, etc.
Those solutions will be experimented by replying Japanese “case study” or “user experiences” for defining the best way of use of the solution, a sort of “protocol” studied and approved by the partner Universities.
The novelty of the solutions are quite absolute in Europe, just a few research centres are experimenting NBs for medical purposes, moreover we found evidences of some similar products sold (in Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, and in some other Countries) for industrial cleaning purposes and for water treatment in swimming pools, spa, etc. It’s very important not to confuse Nanobubbles with Microbubbles (MB bubbles of diameter 1-10 micron) thousand of times bigger than NB. The use of MBs is quite common but MBs don’t own the same properties of NBs. Specifically NB are more resilient into the water (weeks against hours of MB), have a huge capacity of oxygen transfer (to water) and own specific iper oxidation properties which give to NB the power of neutralize many toxic elements and pollutants.

The state of development of the solutions could be defined between the following Technology readiness level:
- TRL 6 – technology demonstrated in relevant environment (the NB generators tested)
- TRL 7 – system prototype demonstration in operational environment 
(tests of the “specific” solutions in progress)
The good level of technical readiness allows SMEs partners them to complete the implementation of the planned solutions before the project termination, setting up marketing activity early during the project duration.
