Partner offer (competences/expertise)

The research group “Biorefinery of the lignocellulosic materials generated in the agrifood industry “ is located in the Chemical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Córdoba.
This group has wide experience in the valorisation of the lignocellulosic residues that the agricultural and agri-food activity produce.
To reach a real sustainable development, it is necessary a better use of natural resources. Thus, the best residue is that which does not exist.
This group have been researching during last years in the valorization of the main fractions that compose the vegetable biomass; cellulose, lignin and hemicellulose.
Different raw materials have been studied, such as olive tree prunings, orange tree prunings, cereal straws, sugar cane bagasse, emprty fruit bunches (EFB), sorghum, vine shoots, rapid growth vegetables (leucaena, tagasaste), paulownia, hesperaloe funifera, etc.
