IRIDRA (www.iridra.com) is a small (4 associated + 2 staff) engineering and consulting company, born in 1998 and based in Florence. IRIDRA realizes any activity connected with analysis, planning and design for sustainable water management and sanitation. It was the first engineering company in Italy specialised in the design of Natural Water Retention Measures (NWRM) and Constructed Wetlands (CW) for different purposes (mainly wastewater and stormwater treatment and reuse). IRIDRA works for both public and private clients, providing specialized engineering services. IRIDRA members are actively collaborating since about 20 years with the main national environmental organizations (Legambiente, Ambiente e Lavoro, Amici della Terra, etc.) and relevant associations of the water sector like the International Water Association (the Technical Director is currently the Chair of the IWA Specialist Group on Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control). IRIDRA is also one of the founding companies of Global Wetland Technology, a consortium of 10 companies which have been operating for almost 20 years in the Environmental Engineering sector, with particular specialisation
in wastewater treatment and water pollution control by Constructed Wetlands; IRIDRA can therefore offer to its customers the precious support of the GWT experts whenever particular expertise is needed as also offer services to the other GWT members. Finally IRIDRA is member of the Constructed Wetland Association (CWA), based in UK, and member of the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance network, in order to enhance its specialization in the sustainable sanitation sector. To preserve its leadership, keeping to date with the latest technical and scientific advances, IRIDRA took part in several research or dissemination projects (such as FP5 Swamp, MEDA Zer0-M, Life Sellustra, Life Wataclic, ENPI-CBC SWMED, FP7 NaWaTech, FP7 OPENNESS), often in collaboration with European and international partners, the results of which are often presented to the most important scientific conventions and are published on international peer reviewed journals.
