We work on novel metal recovery technologies from waste material. In specific, we focus on bioleaching and chemical leaching of base metals, PGM and REE from discarded printed circuit boards, hard disk drives and LCD panels.
The main objective of this project is to develop a sustainable technology for metal recovery from WEEE with potential to scale up. Specific objectives are (i) developing individual processes for metal recovery from various streams of WEEE (ii) optimization of the developed processes with a perspective on full scale applications (iii) increasing selectivity towards individual metals (iv) evaluating the environmental performance and cost benefit analysis of the developed processes.
The project will build up on ongoing research projects. The goal is to increase the TRL from 4 to 5.
