SC5-13b-2016: The concept is the development and implementation of GIS-based decision support tools for the assessment of energy recovery perspectives in food processing industry. Food processing is one of the major sectors in Greece, holding about 21 percent of the total sales and accounting for around 25 percent of the Greek manufacturing industry (http://gain.fas.usda.gov/Recent%20GAIN%20Publications/Food%20Processing%20Ingredients_Rome_Greece_6-8-2012.pdf, 10/05/2016).
SC5-14b-2017 Raw materials Innovation actions (b) Processing of lower grade and/or complex primary and/or secondary raw materials in the most sustainable ways (IA). The concept concerns the development and implementation of GIS-based decision support tools for assessing the trading in secondary raw materials in EU for ensuring their quality (https://ec.europa.eu/priorities/sites/beta-political/files/circular-economy-factsheet-waste-to-resources_en.pdf, 10/05/2016).
SC5-15b-2017: The concept is the development and implementation of GIS-based decision support tools for sustainable municipal solid waste storage, discharge and collection services. Separate collection schemes function successfully in many countries especially for green waste. The kitchen waste are more often collected and treated as part of the mixed Municipal Solid Waste. The benefits of separate collection can include diverting easily biodegradable waste from landfills, enhancing the calorific value of the remaining MSW, and generating a cleaner bio-waste fraction that allows to produce high quality compost and facilitates biogas production. Separate collection of bio-waste is also expected to support other forms of recycling likely to be available on the market in the near future, e.g. production of chemicals in bio-refineries (http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:52008DC0811&from=EN, 10/05/2016).
